Not drinking anything this weekend, just wrenching on cars. Beer sounds good right now, but I need to lose my holiday starvation buffer.

I might replace one door lock cylinder and ignition switch this weekend if I’m feeling masochistic. Not so much the ignition, but the door lock is a pain in the ass.

Going to this-

Possibly twice- the guys who created Radwood are giving a talk tomorrow and I already had plans with a friend to go Sunday.

Draining the 250's coolant, flushing, swapping the radiator and intercooler. Really trying to figure out what I'll do with gallons of bad fluid. I'm thinking 5 gallon buckets then refill the distilled water bottles to transport to recycling center?

I’m gonna change the oil for the first time ever. Not for the specific car, just for my first time. Good thing I can walk to work if I mess up lol

Nice!  If you are comfortable with it, consider the fumoto valve.  Makes oil changes super clean and fast.

Also wrenching. Got an engine to yank; and another to go through, regasket , and drop in. Sunny and above freezing so skiing will be junk, and I don’t want to waste the 12 hours of heat and  good daylight.

Shoot, there’s a non-meme-ified version of that image somewhere, and I could have sworn there was a good story attached to it. For the life of me, I can’t remember where I saw it at.

Anyway, got a busy day tomorrow. My brother’s going to help me work on plumbing the garage for this big ol’ air compressor. The sooner it’s hooked up, the sooner we can get back to working on his Saab. Oh, and I’m gonna try to make it out to the Jalopnik Kart 2 Kart event tomorrow night too.

Nothing automotive planned. I do want to get some more work in on my night stand. I decided to make a new bedside stand from some ash (wood) that I’ve had sitting in my garage for a while.

How much does a fumoto valve cost these days?

Yeah I’ve looked into it, but for some reason I wanted to do it the regular first. Just want to feel like I actually can do these things.

They’re about 20-25 I think, plus a few more for the clip if you need it.

Huh, not as bad as I was expecting.  I think for the Civic it’d be fine, but the Sienna has a weird cartridge filter that still requires pushing a thing into it to fully drain, so I doubt it’d save much time/mess there.
